Future Innovators Scholar Program

Overview

The Tonal Innovation Future Innovators Scholar Program seeks to reduce the financial burden of higher education to individuals aspiring to be future innovators.  The Program accomplishes this by awarding two (2) $1,000 scholarships each year to graduating high school seniors and to college students currently enrolled in a degree program.  The application consists of an online application, an essay, and a letter of recommendation.  

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for an award, applicants must:

  • Demonstrate a desire to become an innovator in your community;

  • Demonstrate strong academic performance (3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale);

  • Be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, U.S. Permanent Resident, Refugee, Asylee, or other individual eligible to attend an institution of higher education

  • Be a member of a performing ensemble – chamber group, concert band, orchestra, marching band, etc.

  • Have graduated from high school by the application deadline; and

  • Be or plan to be enrolled full-time at an accredited College or University in the United States for the upcoming academic year.

Application Requirements 

  1. A completed application form

  2. A biographical sketch (less than 300 words)

  3. A narrative essay of sufficient length, but not more than 3 pages typed at 12 pt. font, single spaced, in Times New Roman that answers the following prompts:

    • Why are you an innovator?

    • Talk a little about your musical resume (ensembles you have been a part of, instruments played, special events performed at, etc.).  

    • How has being involved in music made a positive impact in your life?  

    • Do you hope to continue your musical career during and after college?

  4. Academic transcript(s) from your most current academic institution and/or previous institutions if the applicant has been enrolled for less than 2 years.

  5. A letter of recommendation from someone in the music industry – a band director, studio professor, instructor, etc.
